A Few Words

About Me

Exceptional Service

Writing that you can count on

How to best describe myself…should be an easy task but it really isn’t so simple. I am not a simple person (intellectually or otherwise.) At the time of this writing, I have just enjoyed my 63rd birthday. I am a single mom to the most amazing son anyone could ever hope to have. I am the third child of parents who were beyond awesome. (That means my Borg designation is “3 of 6.”) My siblings are the best I could have ever wished for, and not a day goes by that I don’t think of sister “1 of 6.” She had to leave this life but there is no doubt in my mind and heart that we will find each other again.

By way of making a living, my first job post-high school was cleaning poop from kennels in a veterinarian’s office. I then did the college thing for a while, leaving to take a job as a secretary in a local mental health facility. After several years there, I returned to college. I graduated with a nursing degree and began a career that spanned about 20 years. When it got to the point that I was literally sick of sick people, I moved on.

After my son was born (I was 42 at the time), I returned to college. I then began a teaching career, settling into the classroom to teach junior high history and science. Unfortunately, after about 13 years, it was time for me and that profession to part ways. I was, at first, bitter over the loss of a career I loved. But, in hindsight, I realize it was for the best. Things have changed so dramatically in the teaching profession since I left that I am certain I would have probably not only been fired but possibly prosecuted for high crimes and misdemeanors had I remained in the mad house that is now public education.

Not being one to succeed at doing nothing, I decided to try something I had been thinking about doing for almost 50 years: writing. I’ve been doing freelance writing since 2015. Suffice it to say, once I got my foot in the door, it has been a very enlightening undertaking. Not only do I thoroughly enjoy doing it, I get to do it at my own pace and from my own comfy recliner at home.

I also have three dogs – Snowball, Radar, and Krumpus – who are my sweet baby, cuddle muffin, and big ole boy, respectively.

You can find me hanging out in the backwoods of Mississippi, United States of America, North American continent, planet Earth, somewhere in the cosmos.
